ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Giovanni Carta, Roman filmmaker coming from journalism, produces short films directed and edited by himself, presented in national and international festivals. He graduated in Law at LUISS (Free International University of Social Studies) with a thesis in criminal law on "Crimes committed by means of the press"; he specialized in "Journalism and Mass Communication" at the same University, after a two-year postgraduate course. He worked in the editorial staff at Rai TG1, under the direction of Bruno Vespa, and in the RaiUno format "Unomattina". Later in the newspaper "La Repubblica", he has collaborated with the editors of the magazine "Il Venerdì". The passion for direction showed up during his university years with the completion of the first self-produced short films, and continues to date through the production of many short to medium length films, music videos, commercials, etc.. He often signs stories and screenplays as well, as author or co-author of many of his works. "CARTAFILM" is the name of the independent factory created by Giovanni Carta around a close knit group of work based on the spontaneous contribution of actors, musicians, technicians and artists.

Giovanni Carta, filmmaker proveniente dal giornalismo, realizza corto e mediometraggi di cui cura la regia e il montaggio, presentati in festival e rassegne nazionali ed internazionali.
Laureato in legge alla Luiss (Libera Università Internazionale degli studi sociali) con una tesi in diritto penale sui "Reati commessi col mezzo della stampa", ha conseguito la specializzazione in "Giornalismo e comunicazioni di massa" presso la stessa Università, al termine di un corso biennale post lauream.
Ha lavorato alla Rai presso la redazione del TG1, durante la direzione di Bruno Vespa, e nell'ambito della trasmissione di Raiuno, "Unomattina".
Successivamente presso il quotidiano "La Repubblica", ha collaborato con la redazione del magazine "Il Venerdì".
La passione per la regia si manifesta all'università con la realizzazione dei primi cortometraggi autoprodotti, per poi continuare sino ad oggi attraverso la produzione di numerosi film di breve o medio metraggio, videoclip musicali, spot, showreel, ecc.
Spesso firma anche il soggetto e la sceneggiatura, in veste di autore o co-autore, di molti dei suoi lavori.
"CARTAFILM" è il nome della factory indipendente costituita da Giovanni Carta attorno ad un affiatato gruppo di lavoro basato sull'apporto spontaneo di attori, musicisti, tecnici e artisti.
